Creative Youth Take Flight: LA ALMA CONNECTION

MASTER ART PLAN for West 10th Avenue in La Alma Lincoln Park Neighborhood

While working at Arts Street in 2015, I was a key player in winning the “Our Town” grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Over the next year, we worked with underserved youth, running workshops on urban design, public art, creative placemaking, data collection & mapping, social media marketing, photography, videography, 3D digital modeling, graphic design, document layout design, and event planning to create this Master Art Plan. The objective is to transform West 10th Avenue from the Osage Light Rail Station to the Arts District on Santa Fe into a fun, safe, and beautiful streetscape, encouraging more people to take alternative transportation to the Art Walks. So far, some of the ideas presented in the plan have been implemented by Arts Street-led youth like fence art and murals. Also, the City of Denver has added pedestrian safety measures at key intersections.
